SCEMS Masterclass: Naomi Tadmor

30 October, 2015 @ 10:00 am - 12:05 pm

The Semantic Analysis of Historical Words in Context.

THIS EVENT IS NOW FULLY BOOKED.

The second in the Autumn 2015 series of Masterclasses will be delivered by Naomi Tadmor, Professor of History at Lancaster University.

Beginning where her own work started, with usages of ‘family’ and ‘friend’ that do not correspond to twenty-first century expectations, Professor Tadmor will encourage participants to think through what semantic differences reveal. The Masterclass will also explore reading a text from the past as an act of translation, and examine methodologies for the use of language as historical evidence.

Masterclasses are free to attend but advance registration is required.  For more information or to register please use the contact form on this website.
